interstitial nephritis with variable tubular damage and infiltration by numerous neutrophils, due to bacterial infection, urinary tract obstruction, or other causes (including drugs) which may be hypersensitivity reactions; accompanied by renal failure, fever, blood or tissue eosinophilia, and rash.
